THE CONTEST

So, today is the day!  I slapped together all the pics I got, clicked the random number generator a few times, and put this bitch out to pasture.  I am sure y'all want me to get down to it without too much chit-chat.

Tough tits!  I am gonna talk about it!

  • I got 177 entries, and there are 3 winners, so y'all had a 3/177 chance of winning.  I would figure out the percentage for you, but I would probably be wrong.  If I was good at math, I would be out solving equations and saving the world instead of eating pretzels with no bra on while I wrote a makeup blog.
  • Everyone got assigned a number in the order I went through the emails.  Everyone got ONE number, even if they sent more than one pic.  Also, if they sent more than one pic, I only posted the one I liked the best.  If you sent a few pictures and don't like the one I picked, tough titties.  If you had a preference, you shouldn't have sent the images you didn't like ;)
  • I started at 02 instead of 01, because I liked it better that way.  I know the number was picked randomly, so 01 was as likely to be picked as 02, but I left 01 out because I wouldn't want to be number 01, and I would think that would be less likely to be picked, because I'm a fucking idiot.
  • I cropped everyone's pics into perfect square shapes so I could tile them up and post them easier. If you sent a really close up pic of yourself, or one that was a skinny rectangle like a cell phone pic, I cropped it into a square and did a shoddy job adding more background in, because I assume y'all didn't want some weird close up of your face that cut off at the lip to be posted.  If you gave me a close up and there was not enough background for me to do that, I just did my best.  Most of the images were fine, though.  I just thought I would be upfront about that if your pic looks slightly different than the one you sent.  I ONLY extended backgrounds and added numbers, I didn't touch anything else.
  • I used a random number generator to pick the winners.  This was not a beauty contest, and it wasn't a contest to impress me with your skills.  The winners were randomly selected, no preference was given to people I knew, or people who had haircuts I liked, or anything like that.
  • I was originally going to post all of the makeup everyone had on, but I got 177 entries and everyone had, like, 15 different items on.  I'm not gonna leave you hanging, though, so if there is someone you find particularly fetching, email me at nataliedee@nataliedee.com with the number of the person you want details about, and I will make a supplementary post with the makeup info of the people y'all want to know about.  I will say, though, that I noticed that y'all really like Maybelline mascara, Revlon Colorstay foundation, BB Cream, and those Just Bitten stain/balm things.
OKAY!  Let's look at some motherfucking pictures!!  I will say that I WAS impressed at what a crew of cute ladies y'all are.  Maybe the sample is skewed because this is a makeup blog and not a lawnmowing blog or a living-in-a-hole blog, but still.  Well played, ladies.  Also, when I was making these collages of photos, I felt like I was making the yearbook for a girls' reform school.
(I don't know why the last panel won't be the same size as the others.)

OKAY!!
Y'all ready for the winners??

The Grand Prize winner:
(Am I supposed to name the Grand Prize last?

The Second Prize Winner:

The Third Prize Winner, that is exactly
the same as the Second Prize:

ALRIIIIIIGHT!  Now that is all done and I feel empty inside.  I'm pretty sure the winners all included their addresses, so that's all squared up.  You can email me, though, if you need your prize sent to a different address for some reason.

Honorable mention to all the inky, pierced up ladies with big ear holes and Skrillex haircuts.  Y'all're bad.

WRITE ME IF YOU WANT MAKEUP INFO ON ANYONE POSTED!!  I'm not leaving you hanging, I'm just not transcribing and linking 25,000 different make ups if I don't have to.  GOOD GAME!!!  I'll do this again once I think of a good prize and a good contest that is different than this one.

I liked this giveaway. Good thinking, Natalie. & I'm surprised you want to do another one, this seems labor intensive.

    3. Agreed! It seems like it has a nice finish, is it cream blush?

    4. Aw thanks guys! I'm kind of a Blush Person so that makes my heart flutter and stuff. More blush for every person, says me.

Berae, it's actually two powders-- Wet N Wild in Heather Silk and Ben Nye in Cool Pink. I use the Sephora "Classic Rounded Blush Brush," which has a HILARIOUS description on their site (you absolutely could not apply eyeshadow with this brush in any way). It looks exactly like a Walmart blush brush I've had since I was a teenager, so I would say it's not worth any more than the $3 I paid for it at a local consignment shop, but that style of blush brush is awesome and makes it easy to feather on powders in quick, thin layers for maximum flush. THE MORE U KNOW/sorry, I was powerless and had to tell you everything.

    5. Nice, agreed, I checked out the description and it is wonderful. Maybe by "all-over eyeshadow" they mean ALL OVER YOUR FACE, haha - very editorial.

I didn't know Ben Nye had cool stuff other than that crazy banana powder, I will have to check it out. Thanks!

  9. Thanks for putting this on and posting the photos, natalie! And thanks to everyone for sharing their look. Y'all are making me regret that I just put on coral lip stain instead of reaching for drop-dead red!

    1. Yes! I am sometimes nervous that I look too dramatic/obnoxious wearing red lipstick, so it's nice seeing so many people wearing it so well!!

    2. You might like the Revlon Lip Butter in Candy Apple. It's really wearable and pretty subtle as red lipstick goes. It's kind of like a balm with a more buildable pigment.

    3. I felt all kinds of goofy in red lipstick until I found the right red. Now I really feel kind of naked without it and have become one of those women who has three different lip liners and nine different red lipsticks and about a billion lip brushes. I'm #97 btw.

  11. 58, 158 and 162 - what lipstick are you all wearing? Looks like a good shade of red.

I'm with you Mo, I just wore coral lip gloss and I feel all boring next to all the mamas rockin' red lipstick.

    1. i'm gonna take down all the numbers y'all want details about, then i will do a follow up next time i post with all that information for everyone.

    2. Okay that sounds cool! I meant to ask about 56 not 58 - oops. 56 is the one with red lipstick, 58 is wearing pink.

I'm curious to see who is wearing the Just Bitten gloss and in what colors. I bought some of that, and I like how it goes on and how it feels and from looking at the container I thought it was going to be a good shade of deep red, but instead it looks kinda brown/orange on me. I think the color I bought was called "adore."

  15. Yep, in my email address and a couple of times in the body of the email. (I've got it showing as sent on my phone...it could easily have gotten trapped.)

    1. yeah, i got zero emails from anyone named lela... i was concerned about that happening, which is why i had posted on the FB page for this site a couple times asking people to email me if the hadn't got their assigned number yet :/

    2. No worries, I'm not upset! Thanks for taking the time to respond. I didn't look at the FB page, so that's my fault. I'm sure the email got stuck in the interwebz. Loving this blog and love your work - next time!

  16. gotta say i'm in love with the fact that so many of the girls have blue hair! i too have blue hair :) but i'm way too camera shy to take pictures that other people might see :(

jealous of 134's ability to keep the colors separate.

and while i'm sure that there has been a post in the past about the kitten eyeliner....any suggestions? (or reference to previous post) i use tape at the corners, and while it comes out nice and sharp, it's still just not quite right.

    1. It's the little things in life.

  21. I ended up not entering because I remembered my makeup looks are pretty boring! Lookin' good though, everyone.

Probably my best trick is that I store my makeup in a black metal toolbox that I bought off of Amazon instead of a train case. It's easy to clean, looks bad ass (after the sticker was peeled off), was inexpensive, and has a spot for a padlock in case you host parties where someone might go pilfering.

Can the next contest be hair related? I'm seeing some fun hairdos up there.

    1. you should have entered anyway! it wasn't a competition to see who had the most creative/fancy makeup, it was basically a random drawing where i made people jump through a couple hoops so 9 billion people didn't enter and people who met the very minor requirements had better odds of winning.

      Delete
  22. everyone saying their entry didn't arrive... i tried my hardest to make sure i would catch anyone who got spam filtered or mis-labeled their emails. every time i unloaded pics onto my computer (2-3 different occasions) i posted to tell people who had sent things up to that point to email me if they didn't get an assigned number that day.

  23. I love all the pictures, what great looking ladies! I also like all the girls rockin out glasses. I am more of a "fancy eye, nude lip" kinda person with my makeup and sometimes with my glasses I wonder if it looks funny or is worth the effort. Seeing all the gorgeous red lipstick looks might inspire me to give red a try . . . I have always thought it was something I am unable to pull off. I was too shy to share my boring only drugstore becuase I live in the middle of nowhere and hate paying shipping for makeup looks but thanks to all of those who did.

  24. Congratulations, ladies!
Wow, everyone looks awesome (and interesting! I may have to reconsider my anti-social nature...).

I have questions re. lips: 05 (great nude, how how how...), 17, 23, 99, 128, 144, what did you use?

Thanks for holding the contest, Natalie! I found it really useful to actually photograph my face (and find out how little colour I actually put on). I 'knew' to do that, but this contest gave me the kick to actually do it. I'm still really learning how to do a basic face, having learned make-up first for theatre. I can do mad theatrical make-up, but it's a bit rough heading to the grocery like that.

  26. This group has fantastic taste in glasses. Looking good ladies!

I would love to know which lipsticks 126, 32, 17 and 146 are wearing. I've been looking for a vivid red that doesn't turn fuschia on me.

  27. Love the lip colors on 27 (awesome black!) but also the more tame ones on 42 and 93. Everyone looks like an awesome group to go have beers with.

    1. Thanks so much, that's me! I am actually wearing Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm (in peppermint) which is super boring, but it makes my lips so soft and luscious. My favorite lip gloss is Urban Decay Lip Junkie in Naked (a mini comes with the Naked2 palette). It adds a little extra rosiness.

  29. Ok, I didn't win, but somehow not winning didn't make this any less fun. Which pretty much makes it the best contest ever. Thanks again, Natalie!!
